if charles dickens were alive today, he would be writing about these three characters….

to start the new year off, the “hey abbott award” goes to three people.  they can share it jointly and they should know that we hope they will be the worst of the year to come, but something tells us, that won’t happen.

according to the national military families association, thousands of military people are getting sucked into high interest loans by ruthless lenders.  it is so bad that hillary clinton, the senator from new york, is sponsoring a bill to make the united states army pay attention to this problem.

but just as the united states army has always condoned whore houses near its army bases, it also seems to approve lenders sucking the financial blood out of mostly young married kids.

be assured that the united states army could close down every red light district that is near to any of its bases.  at the same time, it could put into action, a program to help soldiers and the dependents live within their financial means.  there is no question that the united states army could stop the practice of money lending to its troops.

since the generals who sit on their fat assess in the pentagon and the ones who conduct our war in iraq from tampa florida, don’t seem to care, would it be too much to ask three local united states army leaders to do something?

probably not.  we would not want to disturb their empty time at fort hamilton here in brooklyn, new york by asking these three people who have basked at the government trough for years to do anything to help their soldiers and their financial problems.

on our hit list for this week is colonel tracey e. nicholson, the garrison commander at fort hamilton, ms. linda a. duncan, the deputy commander and csm juan a. caez, the command sergeant major at the base.

if you read up about these three, you will find a whole list of medals and awards, but no place do you find that any one of them has initiated a program to help keep military families out of debt.

high school and colleges throughout the nation attempt to keep army recruiters off their campuses.  could it be that they don’t trust the army and its promises?

and even though parents in most instances do not have to give permission for their child to join the united states army, would you as a parent want one of this week’s “hey abbott award” winners to be responsible for his/her financial well being?
