this electric company overcharges its customers and then through negligence kills them……

con edison is the electric company here in new york city.  it charges too much for its electricity.  it pays too much to its executives.  it is a terrible company.

but here is the deal.  a company can’t really be “bad.”  it is the people who run it who are bad and that is surely the case when it comes to john f. miksad, a con edison senior vice president. he gets the “hey abbott award” for this week.

john recently held a press conference to talk away the horrendous number of electric shocks that people and pets are getting on the streets of new york city because of his company’s shoddy safety standards.

according to him the electric company is doing everything it can to see that no more people are killed and no more pets die.  if you believe that, you can also believe that the moon is made out of cheese.

he bragged that so far they have discovered more than 1200 instances of stray voltage.  he neglected to mention that this inspection only came about because a woman died a year ago from an electrical shock while walking her dog and stepping on a con edison grate.

by the way, this particular press conference was held because of the latest shocking event.  a nine year old boy had stepped on a con edison manhole cover and had gotten a shock.

initially, con edsion said that there was no electricity at the spot.  you can call that an outright lie.

if john really cared about the public getting shocks from his equipment, no one would be getting shocks.

if a customer doesn’t pay their electric bill, con edison is very efficient in turning off the power.  the process of getting it turned back on is a nightmare for folks, especially in the poorer neighborhoods.

isn’t it  shame john and his fellow executives aren’t as fast and as efficient in finding life threatening electric leaks on the streets of new york city?
